Being organic is our #1 priority.

There are two principal reasons we use our organic approach: we care about you and your family, and also the environment. It’s as simple as that. Allow us to explain …

We realize that lawns are used to entertain family and friends and also having family pets enjoy the outside. Watching children play in the yard is most enjoyable. This is our most important reason for approaching your lawn as organically as possible by incorporating safe practices.

Being green and environmentally responsible is a goal we strive for.

However, there is more and it all starts with our rich history …

For over half a century, traditional lawn fertilization involved applying large quantities of Nitrogen, Phosphorous and Potash (NPK) annually. Since ProLawn opened its doors, the Founders wanted to focus on environmentally friendly ways to grow and maintain beautiful lawns. One of the most significant factors for emphasizing the organic approach was living and servicing lawns in the Chesapeake Bay watershed. Scientific studies have shown that excess runoff of Nitrogen and Phosphorous fuel the growth of unwanted algae, which in turn threatens the health of underwater life such as oysters and blue crabs.we take an organic approach to lawn care

Our mission has always been to be a good steward of the environment and provide a more sustainable alternative to traditional lawn care methods. Our organic approach results in minimizing the negative effects on the environment, especially those caused by traditional turfgrass fertilization practices.

In the past, quality organic nutrients that could be applied in a liquid form were not commercially available. As these products became available through research and development, we started incorporating them into our services. In doing this, we have met our target of reducing the need for high nitrogen applications while completely eliminating the use of phosphorous. Included in both our lawn care and our tree and shrub programs are organic and micro nutrients including humates, seaweed extracts, composted tea from earthworm castings, and chelated iron.
