Established in 1981 by Gary Clements, ProLawn started off as a small lawn service company called Prescription Lawn in Winchester, Virginia. Within three years, this operation grew to about one hundred regular clients and was doing quite well for a one-man operation.
In 1984, Gary’s neighbor, Allen Rogers and his wife, April, purchased the assets of the company and its client base. They also renamed the business ProLawn and incorporated it as A ProLawn Service Corporation in 1985.
Today, ProLawn serves the Northern Shenandoah Valley and the metro area of Northern Virginia. We employ over 25 full time staff and have expanded into commercial ground maintenance, parking lot sweeping, snow removal services and the wholesale distribution of deicing products.
At ProLawn, one of our main goals is sustainability defined as: “the ability to meet current needs without hindering the ability to meet the needs of future generations in terms of economic, environmental and social challenges.”
We like to think of our clients as our neighbors… because they are. Would we want our children and grandchildren to play on toxic lawns? What kind of planet do we want to leave behind? These are the types of questions that are at the forefront before we make any changes in our lawn applications and services.
We take great pride in our work. Give us a call at 1-800-Pro-Lawn and have one of our knowledgeable technicians evaluate your lawn for free without any obligations.
Examples of Environmentally-Friendly Practices
Our use of seaweed extracts as a root growth stimulator precludes the use of phosphorous as it is one of the worst polluters of the Chesapeake Bay. ProLawns use of organics has allowed the reduction of nitrogen, another bay pollutant, while not sacrificing the deep green color desired in our lawns. The commercial ground maintenance division makes use of recycled products, like leaf mulch, to be more environmentally friendly. The snow removal division employs the use of salt brine to reduce the amount of salts introduced into the environment. ProLawn strives to be a valuable partner in focusing on the needs of our clients.
Your ProLawn Guarantee of Satisfaction
ProLawn is committed to providing the highest quality lawn care possible. Communication is essential to your satisfaction. If there’s ever a concern or question, we respond quickly. And you can always feel free to call or email us anytime. Exceptional client service is one of the differences that sets ProLawn apart from other lawn care companies.
If you aren’t satisfied, just let us know. We’ll make it right or credit your account for what you paid for the last application.
Allen Rogers, a native of Winchester, Virginia, is the current President of ProLawn. At age 10, he started selling newspapers for the Winchester Evening Star. Fortunate to attend Wake Forest University on a football scholarship, Allen launched a career in real estate in the late 70’s shortly after graduating. His next career move was as a National Accounts Manager for a regional trucking company.
But Allen had a dream of owning his own business. When Prescription Lawn Care became available in 1984, he purchased the business. By 1985, he was immersed in it full time.
Allen is married to April Foreman and they have three grown children. Following in his father’s footsteps, Addison Rogers, their oldest son, started working for the company at ten years old. Now, he is employed full time by ProLawn and serves as the Operations Manager.
